Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Laing, aka Kohwe, has been reported dead today at 75 years.

The sad news was broken by his daughter, Comfort Laing, who confirmed the news to ghanaweekend.com. She verified that her father passed away on the evening of Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his residence in Accra.

Currently, the cause of death has not been made public. The information will be updated as received after this breaking news.

Samini Featured On AFCON 2021 Official Theme Song (LISTEN)

Ghanaian dancehall and reggae musician, Samini has been featured on the AFCON 2021 Official Theme song.
 
The song titled ‘Africa Smile’ was released not long ago and it preaches about peace and the need for Africans to be united.

Other artistes featured were Salatiel, Timi Dakolo, Assia, Hakim, Jaylann, Rayen Youssef, Tukkiman, Imilo Iechanceux, and Mylmo.

The 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will start on January 9, 2022, in Cameroon.

Twitter deletes Shatta Wale’s rape post

Micro-blogging platform, Twitter has removed Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale‘s tweet where he seemingly admitted ‘engaging in rape’ in his tweet-storm against Grammy award winner Burna Boy

The Ghanaian singer while revealing the reason for his rift with Burna Boy tweeted, “Because he is a rapist, He is jealous I did same to his girl. Cuz that’s his job, Raping jealousy”.

Shatta Wale in a series of posts on his Twitter account also alleged that the Nigerian singer sexually molested a number of ladies in Ghana.

Shatta Wale further stated that Burna Boy had issues with him after his sacked worker lied to the singer that he molested his babe.

He condemned Burna Boy for not having the courage to face him so as to ask him if he truly slept with his babe but decided to believe his former employee.

Meanwhile, a check for the tweet where he seemingly admitted engaging in rape has been removed by Twitter.

The social media platform wrote, “This Tweet is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules”.

Breaking:MUSIGA postpones election 2022 till further notice

The National Elections Committee (NEC) of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has called off the union’s elections to elect new national and regional executive officers scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 till further notice.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the Chairman of National Election Committee for MUSIGA, Mr. Peter Marfo on Friday January 7 and copied to the Nationalistgh.com in Accra.

The statement noted that, after extensive consultations with the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the elections of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) slated for Wednesday 12th January, 2022,has been postponed.

” The decision to postpone the elections is due to a number of factors which have warranted the decision”, it said.

The statement further stated that, a new date would be communicated to the membership of the Union for the National and Regional elections which will take place on the same day nationwide.

The statement apologized to all the members especially the aspirants.

“On behalf of the National Election Committee, we would like to apologize to the Aspirants and members for any inconvenience this decision may cause them”, it added.

It explained that, the committee is feverishly preparing to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner for the true choice of members to prevail for the betterment of the Union and the music industry in Ghana as a whole.
